Forgotten
(Forget that shit)
When they look away,
Turn their eyes aside,
Tilt their chin above
Yours,
It is true:
You are not seen
By their moment.
And the air you breathe
Is the air they breathe.
When they walk up
And walk by
And walk on
In the direction of your sun,
It is true:
THAT warmth is not for you,
This time, this place.
And the air you breathe
Is still the air they breathe.
When your heart breaks
On the inhale
As they steal on their exhale
All your hopeful hues,
Suck it in
Draw that full pain
Into the barrel of your gut,
Not their eyes nor their chin,
Not their walk, never them,
But the explosion their
Awful poetry inspires in you,
Take THAT, snatch it up,
Swallow it whole, build, build,
Stretch, bloat,
Compress, contract,
Squeeze and
Howl until you sweat blood.
Excremented release
Is your digestion of the world,
The absorption of surprise nutrients,
Good bacteria you never suspected could be cultivated by your betrayer,
And the emancipation from the toxins you never suspected could germinate from your own complex soul.
When love approaches and withdraws,
When you are forgotten,
Breathe in that truth.
Hold.
Close your eyes.
Listen.
Hear Another song, another little-big heart who is breaking
To a similar tune,
A familiar genre.
And the closer the progression,
The sweeter the bitterness of that harmony that you’re humming together,
As you cross paths, continue on,
And breathe out love.
