Stephen

or

And Zeus Joined with Destiny

And then, in his face I saw.

Beside me

Closest to my heat,

Watcher of other worlds,

Beyond the buildings of my mind,

And the fairies of my dreams,

Contained in two curved doorways,

I saw matter and nerves

I saw walls as fine as salt water

And thick like disappointment and fear.

I saw the gatekeepers of my soul,

And my throat choked on swallowed music.

Music of two,

Music of two ones,

Music of one alone.

Music of courage.

What next except utopia

In all other company my brainchild

Fights its outside parents for the

Right to identify its own seeds

And which grandfather oak it will dictate

As current and forever.

This nextness dictates only me.

All of just me.
